Delafield History

Established in 1959 among the glacial hills, lakes, and prairies of the Kettle Moraine, the City of Delafield offers residents and visitors a variety of natural attractions, historic sites, shopping and dining experiences. Community events are held year-round including art fairs, outdoor theater, ice sculpting, and music festivals. Delafield has an area of about 11 square miles, located in central Waukesha County along I-94, which provides convenient access to surrounding communities.

Educational Opportunities

The City of Delafield is served by the Arrowhead Union High School District and the Kettle Moraine School District, with one elementary school located in the City. Both Districts offer innovative high school programs, including the two-building campus at Arrowhead, focusing on educational opportunities by grade level, and the collegiate-style career building campus (including three charter schools) at Kettle Moraine. Each of the high schools consistently exceeds expectations of statewide achievement. In addition, Delafield is served by a number of private schools and by the Delafield Public Library, which is a member of the Waukesha and Jefferson Counties Bridges Library System.

Numerous higher education opportunities are available to Delafield residents in Waukesha County and in neighboring counties. Carroll University—a private university, and UWM at Waukesha—a two-year campus affiliated with UW-Milwaukee—are both located in the City of Waukesha. Cardinal Stritch, Herzing, and Ottawa Universities have campuses in Brookfield offering undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition, Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) is located in Pewaukee and offers associate degrees, technical diplomas, and short-term certificates. Milwaukee County is home to 15 universities, including UW-Milwaukee, Marquette University, and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Together, these universities offer a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs.
