We’re excited to announce two new additions to our board of directors: Mike Shiels, dean of the School of Applied Technologies at Waukesha County Technical College; and Ty Staviski, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Milwaukee Tool.
Mike Shiels has been the dean of the School of Applied Technologies at Waukesha County Technical College since 2011. He was previously a printing and publishing instructor at WCTC and has experience working in manufacturing and printing companies. The School of Applied Technologies at WCTC is home to 28 programs in architecture and construction, engineering, graphic communications, manufacturing, transportation and apprenticeships. Mike leads a team of innovative and experienced faculty who provide quality learning opportunities, combining practical theory and technology-based, hands-on learning experiences. Mike and his team have built a strong reputation with employers in the region for providing high-quality skills training.
Ty Staviski was appointed chief financial officer of Milwaukee Tool in August 2008, and is directly responsible for the finance, accounting, operations and legal functions of the organization. As such, Ty oversees and develops organizational strategies through financial analysis and establishes functional objectives in line with organizational objectives for Milwaukee’s Power Tool, Hand Tool, Accessory and Empire divisions. He has over 20 years of experience in several industries ranging from health care to consumer goods, with over 10 years of experience in his current field—industrial power tools. With a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas, he has held key management positions with SIG Beverages, Newell Rubbermaid and GE Healthcare.
Our board members have extensive experience helping businesses grow in our area and we look forward to working with each of them to build Waukesha County’s economic development capabilities to enhance our vibrant economy.
